
The 12th Spring Fest of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama began on March 13 with an inaugural programme followed by a series of cultural performances and competitions, bringing together students in a vibrant celebration of talent and creativity.
The programme opened with an invocation by Rev. Fr. Philip Yanpvuthung and a prelude by the College Choir. Principal Dr. Fr. George Keduolhou Angami delivered the welcome address, while Students’ Council President Kakito Khehoshehü Awomi gave the presidential address.
The special guest, Colonel Ajit Singh Negi, Commander at Jakhama, encouraged students to make the most of their college years, describing college life as “the most beautiful journey of life.” He said it is a time when students learn at every step and discover new interests, urging them to challenge themselves, dream big and make use of the opportunities available for growth. Colonel Negi also expressed his delight at attending the fest, noting that he had been hearing about the event for the past few years.
The inaugural session featured a special presentation by the Army Battalion from Zakhama Military Station, after which the special guest formally declared the 12th Spring Fest open.
The second session witnessed a range of cultural activities including folk dance, war cry, modern dance and student presentations. Performances such as Project Anonymous and Moko Koza were also showcased.
Several off-stage competitions were held alongside the cultural events, including a go-cart race, bamboo stilt walk, photography competition and Naga wrestling.
The opening day witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, marking a lively start to the college’s annual festival.
