DIMAPUR, MAR 9 (NPN):

Four best wrestlers from the Provisional Units, Under-25 and Professional categories of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), who recently clinched titles during the 30th Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship, 1st NWA Under-15 Championship and 1st NWA Provisional Championship, were felicitated by the 13 Assam Rifles, Kohima Battalion at its camp on Monday.
According to a press note issued by NWA joint secretary Kuzhovesa Soho, NWA president Viviolie Kezo expressed gratitude to the 13 Assam Rifles for honouring the wrestlers and officials of the wrestling fraternity. He lauded the battalion’s humanitarian gesture and urged the officers to explore avenues to accommodate wrestlers in the Defence Services under sports quota. Kezo said such recognition would strengthen ties between the armed forces and the hill people, while also contributing to nation-building.
Commandant of 13 Assam Rifles, Col. Manoj Kumar Singh, in his address, congratulated the champions for their achievements and encouraged them to carry forward the legacy of Naga wrestling as role models. He presented awards and citations to all 12 winners during the ceremony.
Officials from NWA, representatives of three affiliated units, six provisional units, and officers of the 13 Assam Rifles attended the felicitation programme.
