A total of 131 health staff from 80 solar-powered health centres in Mon were trained on operation and maintenance of solar PV systems and the Saura e-Mitra app during a four-day programme held from June 24 to 27 at District Hospital Conference Hall and at Aboi and Tobu Blocks.
According to a press release from DPMU Mon, the training was jointly organised by SELCO Foundation and the National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH). It was attended by deputy CMO Mon, Dr. Aonungdoktoshi Ao; IDSP epidemiologist, Dr. Elizabeth; SMOs from CHC Aboi and Tobu; and Block Programme Managers of Tizit and Aboi.
Facilitated by Imli, the training aimed to enhance the technical capacity of staff managing solar-powered healthcare systems. Topics included solar panel inspection, battery and inverter maintenance, safety procedures, basic fault troubleshooting, load management, documentation, and the use of Saura e-Mitra for system monitoring and support. The release stated that the initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen off-grid healthcare services. Nagaland currently has 524 solar-powered health facilities supported through the combined efforts of SELCO Foundation, UNDP, and Nagaland Health Project in collaboration with the state Department of Health and Family Welfare.
