A total of 170 SHG members have availed Rs.1.7 crore as loan under the Community Investment Fund (CIF) Special Piggery Loan Product, from 2022 till date.
Startup Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP) was launched in 2016 at Jakhama Block by Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) for Community Enterprise Promotion.
This was informed during a power-point presentation made at a coordination meeting held at Community Managed Training Centres (CMTC), Jakhama on Friday. Out of 1612 enterprises, 814 entrepreneurs availed loan with Basic Business Skills Training (BBST) while 798 entrepreneurs attended BBST without loan.
After achieving the target set under the SVEP Scheme, the Block Resource Centre (BRC-JWLCCS), Jakhama, had set targets to continue supporting the existing and startup enterprises through the Community Enterprise Fund (CEF) for Enterprise Promotion.
The loan amount was also increased from an upper limit of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakhs after identifying successful enterprises.
Businesses which failed to perform under genuine circumstances were refinanced and the loan defaults were rescheduled and provided with handholding support and guidance.
From 2022 till date, a total of 97 entrepreneurs were promoted. Existing and new entrepreneurs were sanctioned an amount of Rs 2.043 Crore in three Cycles.
For the Financial Year 2023-2024, Block Resource Center (BRC) for Enterprise Promotion will be financing 90 more entrepreneurs where 25 big loans amounting to Rs 3 lakh with a recovery period of upto 4 years. This will include 30 medium loans amounting to Rs 2 lakh with recovery period of upto 3 years, 30 small loans amounting to Rs 1 lakh with a recovery period of upto 2 years.
During the powerpoint presentation, a report on Deendayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) was also presented.
DDU-GKY is a placement linked skill development program initiated by Ministry of Rural Development under National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM).
The vision of the project is to transform rural poor youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce.
Objectives are to provide skill training to the rural youth, to enhance income through skill training and to cater to the career aspirations of the rural youth.
Rural youths between the age group of 18 to 35 years will be eligible under this scheme, educated or drop-out unemployed rural youth who are willing to undergo skill training, rural youths who are committed and disciplined to work hard.
Benefits of this scheme includes 100% government sponsored with free food and lodging, free uniform and kits, free tablet to the candidate for training purposes, certification on successful training completion, placement linked skill development all over India, post placement support for placed candidates.
Courses available under this scheme include:
- Tourism & Hospitality Sector: (a) Food & Beverage Service and (b) Front Office Associate.
- Tailoring
- Assistant Beauty Therapist
- Construction Sector: Assistant Electrician
- Electronics Sector: Solar Panel Installation Technician
- Automotive Sector: Four Wheeler Service Assistant.
- Agriculture Sector: (a) Tropical & Sub-Tropical Fruit Grower, (b) Medicinal & Aromatic Plant Grower, (c) Non-Timber Forest Produce Harvester.
- Aviation Sector: Cabin Crew management & Airport Operations.
Since its inception in Nagaland, more than a hundred candidates from Jakhama Block have been trained and placed in different parts of India and 20 of them are undergoing training right now.
