DIMAPUR, SEP 12 (NPN): The 173 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Dimapur, concluded its mega Open Doubles Badminton Tournament in Saturday at the CIHSR Hospital indoor courts. The event was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) through the Khelo India Scheme, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
In Men’s Doubles, Limasunep & Masen emerged as the champion who received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 + certificates; Khumbi & Liti stood runners-up and received Rs. 6,000 + certificates; Kuhozhe & Hukiye secured third place and received Rs. 4,000 + certificates.
In women’s doubles, Kimkim Khongsai & Rhea Thapa were the winners and pocketed Rs. 10,000 + certificates; Livana & Narola secured runners-up and received Rs. 6,000 + certificates; while Shekhotolu & Yashi emerged as third place and pocketed Rs. 4,000 + certificates.
The grand finale was graced by Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedim,a Polan John as chief guest. He was joined by Commandant of 173 Bn CRPF, Ashok Kumar Yadav, who delivered the welcome address.
In his remarks, Polan John commended the successful conduct of the championship and encouraged youth to actively pursue sports as a career. He emphasized the twin objectives of the tournament – Providing a platform for Nagaland’s youth to showcase their sporting skills while promoting the message of Khelo India and Fit India; and strengthening civil-military harmony under the SPANDAN (Sports for Peace and Development Across Nation) initiative.
Distinguished guests of honour included, head of ENT Department CIHSR, Dr. Clement Momin; Assistant Commandant, 15 IRB, Ninoto I. Zhimomi; CDPO Niuland, Tohokhu Achumi; president, Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), Hinoto P. Aomi; head GB Diphupar Village, Kekhwetso Khutso.
