The 1st Inter-Departmental Badminton Tournament was kick off at Tening Sub-Division on September 18 with ADC Tening, Furhesie Nyuwi, NCS, gracing the occasion as the special guest. The event was organized by Badminton Club, Tening, bringing together government departments and employees in a spirit of sportsmanship and unity.
The tournament witnessed over 21 men’s doubles teams and 14 mixed doubles teams.
In his address, Nyuwi emphasized that the tournament is not only about winning but also about fostering cooperation, coordination and camaraderie among government departments and employees. “It’s a solid platform to get to know each other and the people of the area,” he remarked.
He further highlighted the importance of promoting sports among youngsters and encouraging a healthy lifestyle while lauding the organizing committee for their commendable efforts. Concluding his speech, he urged the participants to “let your racquets speak and your shuttles fly.”
The programme was chaired by SDAO Tening, Samsangheile and welcome note was delivered by SDO PHED Tening, Er Volie Rentta whuile the vote of thanks was delivered by VP GHSS Tening, Rosca Jimo. The tournament will culminate on September 19.
