1st PHED sports meet underway

The first-ever Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) sports meet organized by the Association of Public Health Engineering Nagaland (APHEN) got underway Tuesday at 365 Arena, Dimapur. PHED minister Jacob Zhimomi graced the inaugural programme as the special guest. Altogether, 17 teams from across the districts of Nagaland will be participating in the meet, competing in various sporting disciplines.
In his address, Zhimomi lauded the initiative of the department and said the event was a platform to foster unity and camaraderie among staff while also promoting the spirit of sportsmanship. Stating that he would equally support both departmental and his own team, Zhimomi encouraged the participants to give their best, noting that sports also offered promising professional opportunities including recognition, career security, and economic benefits for talented individuals.
He further expressed hope that other departments in the state would emulate such initiatives to encourage sporting culture across Nagaland.
Earlier, the programme began with an invocation prayer by Aoyimkum Baptist Church youth pastor Aoliba Imchen, followed by a welcome address from APHEN president Er. Kedolhuto Puny. A special song was presented by Keneisenuo Sorhei.
