The 1st Wokha Winter Fiesta – Music, Eco-Tourism & Adventure 2023, organised by Team Metamorphosis in collaboration with Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland was inaugurated on Thursday at Lanchuju Eryu, Doyang, under the theme “Explore, Discover and Grow”.
The event will be held till December 13 with many captivating activities, offering holistic experience, blending music, Eco- tourism and nature. The grand opening ceremony-cum-inauguration of stalls was graced by Jwenga Seb, MLA as the chief guest.
Addressing the event, Seb maintained that Doyang is not only beautiful but has boundless natural resources, huge biodiversity including the roosting place of the celebrated Amur Falcon of the world. He also viewed that this Winter Fiesta is an extension of the renowned Hornbill Festival which showcases the rich cultural heritage of Nagaland, which is indeed a testament to the remarkable efforts of chief minister Neiphiu Rio to promote tourism and provide unforgettable experiences to visitors.
The chief guest also delved on the theme of this event, emphasizing that it resonates deeply in the essence of the human nature while remarking that everyone was born with inmate curiosity to explore the world around them, to discover new horizon and to grow as individuals.
Seb also added that Music, Eco-Tourism and Adventure are three integral aspects of this programme as music has the power to transcend boundaries and bring people together, it also heals the broken relationship and evoke emotions that words cannot express.
He expressed gratitude to Team Metamorphosis for their commendable initiative, showcasing Nagaland’s untapped potential. Encouraging Naga youth, he urged them to delve into entrepreneurship and youth empowerment. Emphasizing responsible utilization of natural resources and promoting ecotourism, he highlighted Nagaland’s rich biodiversity and resources that could serve other nations.
ADC Sanis, Zuring Madeliang extended appreciation for choosing the area for the Hornbill extension festival, commending Team Metamorphosis for their ongoing commitment to societal welfare. She lauded their creative curation of diverse and engaging events while expressing a desire for the programme’s sustainability, as the organizers aim for it to become an annual occurrence.
Chief of Team Metamorphosis, Thungdemo Kyong, underscored the Winter Fiesta event’s purpose during his welcome address. He emphasized that the event aimed not only to benefit the team but the entire society, stating that sustainability arises when opportunities are shared collectively rather than benefiting only a select few.
The inaugural day of the 1st WWF-META 2023 featured diverse indigenous games and activities, ranging from kayaking and zip lining to camping and a vibrant DJ Night.
