Dimapur police arrested one Mughalu Ayemi, son of Vikiye Ayemi, in connection to illegal vehicle taxation near Hazi Park area on May 28. According to Dimapur police PRO, Mughalu was collecting tax in the name of Dimapur Auto Owners and he was in possession of cash and other documents in the form of coupon which were seized from him. A case has been registered and is under investigation. Also Dimapur Police personnel manning ISBT detected and seized 11,000 capsules of banned Spasmo Proxivon from the possession of Pukhalu Assumi, son of Hutovi Assumi.
Meanwhile additional deputy commissioner of police/PRO has informed the public and various offices that the Anti-Corruption and Crime Investigation Front (ACIF) was not a statutory body under the central or the state Government. It stated that ACIF has no authority to impose penalties, adjudicate decision, sentence imprisonment etc. While the Dimapur police was not against any individual or organization fighting the evils in the society or working for its betterment, such actions and activities must be carried out within the permissible confines of the law and without infringing into the functions of the competent agencies, stated the release. It also informed that violation would attract actions as per law.
