Two persons allegedly involved in the Thongtsuo village incident in Noklak district on November 18 in which several houses were burnt and one person was killed and another injured by miscreants have been arrested and are currently under police custody.
Confirming this to Nagaland Post on the sideline of an event here on Tuesday, director general of police (DGP) TJ Longkumer said few other culprits too have been identified.
He said there are apprehensions that other identified persons could have already slipped across the border to Myanmar. However, the special investigation team (SIT) constituted for investigating the crime was on the job and hoped to arrest the culprits, he added.
Despite many challenges, the DGP claimed that the SIT was doing a great job, walking miles and miles to reach the spot.
He said police officers have been placed at strategic locations to ensure that the situation does not flare up.
He exuded confidence to arrest the remaining culprits and deliver justice.
