2 held for alleged kidnapping in Phek

Phek police arrested two persons for involvement in the alleged kidnapping for ransom of a Madhucon Projects Ltd employee at Phek town on April 26. 

According to Phek police, the two accused have been identified as one Vevolhu of Yoruba village a “lt’ of NSCN (Khango) and Mutuku Vero of Chepoketa village, a cadre of NNC/ Non Accordist.

The police stated that the employee was kidnapped by the duo at a shop and was taken to an unknown location. It stated the kidnappers demanded Rs 3 lakh for his release. The police immediately conducted raids at various suspected places and with the intervention of public leaders, the employee was released unharmed and was later taken into police custody for investigation.

In this connection, police registered a case against the two accused. A special team arrested Mutuku Vero on April 28 at Phek town and subsequently the main accused Vevolhu was arrested at Yoruba village on May 2.

Meanwhile, two individuals “sgt maj” Serayi of Suthotsu village of NPGN, NNC/Non-Acc and accomplice Venepa of Suthotsu village were arrested on April 30 by Phek police for extorting from the shops at Phek town. 

Police informed that extortion receipts and an amount of Rs, 2410 were seized from their possession. A case was registered with Phek police station for extortion under IPC.
