In a delayed report, two persons were arrested Wednesday by Dimapur police on charges of attempted murder of a truck driver near Chümoukedima November 12 last.
According to PRO Dimapur police, the two accused were identified as one Jitu Chaudhary (35) of Kamrup, Assam and Randip (37) of Karnal, Haryana.
Police said the two accused were previously known to the driver. They firstly drugged him and brutally assaulted him before disposing him off below NH-29 near Chümoukedima in the evening of November 12, 2018. After that, they fled with the empty truck, police said.
However, based on specific inputs, police said the truck bearing a Haryana Registration number was recovered from a house at Toluvi village. Police said the house owner indentified as one Khekuto (42) of Toluvi village was also arrested.
Following the recovery of the truck, police said the two main accused persons were subsequently arrested from Dimapur and a criminal case was registered with Chümoukedima Police Station for further investigation. The driver is currently recuperating in a local hospital, police added.
