A fire incident at Lane 2 (G) in Eralibill village on Friday morning destroyed two Assam-type houses, leaving two families homeless.
No casualties were reported.
According to officials, the fire suspected to have been caused by a short circuit broke out around 9:29 a.m.
Two fire tenders from Central Fire Station were pressed into service and managed to douse the flames within 40 minutes.
Both houses were completely destroyed in the fire. Officials estimated property loss, including household items and important documents, to be around Rs. 15 lakh.
