2 killed; 8 injured in road mishaps

Two persons were killed and eight others injured in separate road accidents in Dimapur district on Wednesday. In the first incident, one person identified as Subrata Dev was killed on the spot and seven other passengers including the driver of the vehicle (Tata Winger) injured when the vehicle they were travelling skidded and rolled down around 100 feet below NH 29 at Piphema at around 4:45 am, traffic police source said.
Traffic police source also told Nagaland Post, that the vehicle (MN-08-5622) was coming from Manipur and proceeding towards Dimapur. Troops of 41 AR posted at Ghaspani also rushed to the spot and rescued all the trapped passengers and administered first aid at the unit hospital. 
In the second incident, an auto driver was killed on the spot after his autorickshaw collided with a Bolero pick up near Government Higher Secondary School, Nagarjan at around 7:30 pm. The deceased has been identified as Murali Mondal, traffic police source said. The pick-up driver was arrested, police said.
