2-lane project: TALOU imposes indefinite bandh

Tamlu Area Land Owners Union (TALOU) Longleng district has resumed bandh on two-lane road construction under SARDP-NE (Merangkong-Tamlu-Mon) over non-payment of compensation for land/properties damaged by Manaranjan Brahma (Pvt) Company.

In a press release, TALOU president Solomon Tamlu said the union comprising of five villages – Kangching, Netnyu, Tamlu, Ametchong and B/Namsang, which have been affected by two-lane project (Merangkong-Tamlu-Mon) SARDP-NE, was imposing “indefinite bandh”  on any vehicular movement and totally ceasing company activities within the belt of 10km to 40km with effect from August 1, 2019.

TALOU said the company failed to release the compensation despite repeated appeals, and therefore it was left with no option but to continue the bandh till all payments are made as per survey done from January 27, to February 9. It cautioned that company would be held solely responsible for any untoward incidents.
