Three minor boys from Naharbari Ward No. 10 were returning home after attending tuition when they decided to swim in the Dhansiri River. Tragically, two of them drowned, while the third was rescued by a local man. Among the victims, two were brothers.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched a search operation yesterday evening, continuing until 6 a.m. One of the bodies was recovered a few hours after the incident, and the second was found later during the operation.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 5 PM on March 23, when a group of children went to the riverbank after returning from tuition. The children reportedly entered the water while playing, leading to the mishap.
Volunteers from Naharbari, along with personnel from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), launched a search operation and recovered the bodies of the two minors on March 24.
