2 shot dead

Two persons were shot dead in separate incidents in Mon district on Tuesday. Unidentified armed gunmen abducted a passenger of a Mon-bound night super bus at Tizit bus stop, Tuesday at around 2 a.m and later shot him dead near a river, about 1 km away from Tizit town. Sources said the deceased later identified as one Tahao Konyak (35), son of Late Mantai Konyak of Mon village, had reportedly defected from the NSCN (I-M) to ‘NSCN/GPRN’ recently. Sources said police organized a search party after learning about the abduction and the body was recovered around 5 p.m. In a separate incident, a former NSCN (I-M) activist identified as Chingwang Konyak of Wakching village, was shot dead by unidentified persons at View Point, Mon town.
