2 VCs object to shifting of Longshen EAC Hq

Tangnyu village council and Yuching village council have objected to shifting of Longshen EAC headquarters under Mon district.

In a joint press release, TVC chairman Tangyin and head GB Yuching village Yoakjun stated that the villages were “shocked and taken surprise” when the district administration had called a meeting on August 17 “without any prior notification or consultative meeting with the stakeholders”

The village councils said that they jointly submitted an objection letter to the DC Mon on August 20. However, they said there had been no response from the government.

They claimed that the nomenclature “Longshen” was derived from the plot of land belonging to Tangnyu Village. They also claimed that Longshen town was established in the year 1981 within the land donated by Tangnyu and Sheanghah Chingnyu villages “as per customary land law agreement between the two villages and the government.”

In this regard, two VCs stated that they “strongly opposed” any attempt to shift Longshen EAC HQ. They also appealed to the government to hold or reject any attempt to shift the EAC Hq “without the consent of the landowners and the stakeholders.” They warned that the government would be held solely responsible in event of any unforeseen incident that could arise due to the proposed move.
