200 participate in ‘5K Charity Run’

Around 200 runners took part in the “5K Charity Run” for Persons with Disabilities held on Saturday starting from Fun City, Sovima via Pelke Sovima-garden mission church-Naithu villa-Namsa office.


The event was organized to support The White Owl Literary Festival and Book Fair and a Charity Concert to promote inclusivity, raise awareness, and support individuals with special needs.


The events aim to inspire empathy, encourage equal opportunities to education for all children, and raise funds to support two incredible organizations namely Keystone Education Society, Dimapur and Bumblebee Inclusive School, Kohima.


The event saw enthusiastic participation from athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and community members alike. Speaking at the program as chief guest, advisor to chief minister and chairman of Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Abu Metha lauded the organizers for their commendable initiative.

He also congratulated all the participants and winners, emphasizing that while some may win and others may not, but the courage to step forward, participate, and share their message was an achievement in itself.


“For many, just participating is a victory; for others, completing the journey is a triumph. Each one of you has a story worth telling,” Metha said. He reminded the participants that everyone faces struggles—be it physical, mental, or emotional—but how an individual responds to those challenges defines their journey.


Metha also cited the inspiring example of Paralympics bronze medalist Hokato Hotozhe Sema, highlighting his resilience and determination. He urged the audience to not let challenges define their limits, reinforcing that hard work, discipline, and commitment were the keys to success.


He expressed excitement for the upcoming literary festival, which will bring together writers, intellectuals, and artists to celebrate literature in Nagaland.


In the female category, Wangsuklin, Jeliam Khiam, Mungatsa Nyuthe, Beatrice Imsujungla Longkumerand Henriette IlsaLongkumer emerged as the winners.


In the male category, Ranben Humtsue, Bendang Jamir, Kivishito, Azgruhmen and Kevikuolie Suyie were the winners. In the children category, the first position was bagged by Imkumba, second by Nito, third place by Amber, Abigail and Khriezo and fourth position by Chabou Mepfhuo. As a recognition of their efforts, certificates and medals were also awarded to all the participants.
