A total of 200 trainees, along with partnering agencies AISTEC and Rhümoru Society, completed a month-long skill training programme in Shamator on February 19.
Speaking at the valedictory programme, EAC Shamator, Mekato J. Aye, congratulated the participants who had undergone training in masonry, plumbing, tiling and electrical trades. He urged them to build strong professional networks, understand the circulation of money within the local economy, and contribute towards strengthening the district economy and, ultimately, the economy of Nagaland.
He stated that the skills imparted were a precursor to the many developmental activities expected in the region in the coming years. He reminded the trainees that the programme was not merely about distribution of machinery or tools but about becoming active contributors as certified skilled workers.
Encouraging them to apply both practical skills and thoughtful planning, he remarked that the future belongs to those who use both their hands and their minds.
The EAC further urged the trainees to motivate youths and parents in their respective villages to enroll in skill training programmes, noting that the district administration aims to create a pool of 3,000 skilled labourers. He highlighted that of the 200 participants in the current session, 50 were women.
As part of the programme, basic toolkits were distributed to the trained participants.
