Altogether 43 fire incidents were reported from Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts since January 2024 up to January 4 this year. Sharing this information with Nagaland Post, officer-in-charge (OC) of Fire Station Central, Dimapur, Sheiya Konyak said out of the 43 fire incidents, the Fire Station Central provided assistance in 29 incidents at Dimapur, Chümoukedima-8 and West-6.

As prices of various commodities in Dimapur experienced gradual rise to the point where the escalations defied commercial logic, directly proportionate to the number of ‘tax’ or ‘fee’ collections; the nearby markets at Lahorijan and Khatkhati in Karbi Anglong(Assam) grew steadily.

In another incident of human-wildlife conflict, a herd of wild elephants entered Panka area under Wokha village on January 5 wee hours and damaged a banana farm.
