27 bombs neutralized, KYKL cadre held in Manipur

Security forces in Manipur successfully neutralized 27 country-made bombs and recovered a cache of arms and explosives in separate operations, according to the daily law and order update issued by Manipur Police on January 2, 2026.
The explosives were recovered near Mongham, a hill village on the fringe of Imphal East district under Thoubal Dam Police Station. The bombs were safely detonated at the site by security personnel.
In a parallel operation on December 31, 2025, a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from Langdum Nungjengbi under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district. The recovered items included one locally-made .32 pistol with magazine, one 12-bore SBBL gun, one rifle, two hand-grenades, 135 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, two lathode shells, three detonators, one tube launcher and two wireless sets. On the same day, security forces arrested an active cadre of the proscribed outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL). The individual was identified as Tekcham Mani Meitei alias Jacob (51), a resident of Wangjing Wangkhei in Thoubal district, currently residing at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal in Imphal East.
The arrest was made based on specific intelligence inputs. Items recovered from his possession included a computer keyboard, mobile handset and Aadhaar card.
