The 27th general conference of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) started Tuesday evening with parliamentary secretary of CAWD & Taxes, Dr. Benjongliba Aier as special guest at Tzurang valley.
Dr. Benjongliba Aier encouraged the Naga students for cooperation, collaboration, supporting each other for progress, for building partnership based on mutual respect, trust and for building “a strong base for a progressive Naga society”.
He also called for brotherhood among the Nagas cutting across border lines among the Nagas in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur or Myanmar. He said “when our brothers and sisters in Assam or in Arunachal Pradesh or in Manipur or in Myanmar are sidelined by majoritarian politics, religion and culture, it should pain us”. He questioned as to how one could be at peace when “our own brothers and sisters were caught up by such a process of homogenization and assimilation,” He reminded that NSF since its inception had played a pivotal role in upholding the unique Naga history and political identity.
NSF president Subenthung Kithan hoisted the NSF flag followed by ‘indigenous launching ceremony”. The convener, Planning Committee AKM, Imchatoba Imchen delivered the welcome address while the NSF vice-president, Shikavi Achumi introduced the delegates and dignitaries.
