28 Koridang ACCC suspends party activities, warns of mass resignation

DIMAPUR, Jul 20 (NPN): The 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) has announced that it will remain in “suspended animation” until further notice, expressing displeasure over the Congress high command’s handling of the appointment of the Mokokchung District Congress Committee (DCC) president.
In a press release, ACCC said the decision was taken by its parent body and rank and file of the party. The committee said that under the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, the All India Congress Committee (AICC), after conducting reviews and consultations across districts, had appointed Imkongyanger as president of the Mokokchung DCC on March 30, 2026. However, it alleged that before he could assume charge, the party, without assigning any reason or formally revoking the earlier appointment, appointed I. Temsu Jamir as DCC president on July 4, 2026.
ACCC described the decision as arbitrary, alleging that it was a direct insult not only to Imkongyanger but also to the party workers of 28 Koridang constituency. It further alleged that the move reflected “high-handedness, favouritism and complete disregard” for long-serving party workers, and had demoralised grassroots workers.
Stating that it felt “deeply betrayed” by the party high command, the ACCC said the sentiments of party workers should be taken into account while selecting important office-bearers such as the DCC president. The committee said it had made several representations to party leaders and had also submitted a memorandum to the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president on July 20.
Appealing to the Congress leadership to hear the voices of grassroots workers and understand the political dynamics in Mokokchung and 28 Koridang constituency, the ACCC said such steps were necessary to strengthen the party’s prospects in the 2028 Assembly election.
It, however, warned that if an amicable solution was not reached, it would be left with no option but to resign en masse.
