2nd Creative Arts Festival underway at PCC

Congregation at the Creative Arts Festival at Patkai Christian College (Autonomous).

The second edition of the Creative Arts Festival at Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) commenced on February 26, bringing together students in a celebration of creativity and athletic spirit under the theme “Confluence: Art and Athletics.”
The festival was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Kohima and alumnus of the 1998 batch, B. Henok Buchem. In his address, Buchem reflected on his formative years at the institution, crediting it for shaping his values and discipline. He urged students to embrace three guiding principles—fear the Lord, obedience, and determination—while cautioning against pursuits that do not add value to life. Encouraging self-awareness and purpose, he advised students to sharpen their skills, remain consistent in their professions, and “dare to be different” in a world challenged by negativity.
Buchem also called upon the alumni community to continue contributing positively to society and uphold the legacy of Patkai Christian College beyond the campus.
Competitions were held among the five houses—Tigris, Pishon, Euphrates, Jordan and Gihon.
The quiz competition, covering topics from Northeast India’s history to sports, politics, literature and popular culture, saw Pishon emerge victorious after a tie-breaker with Euphrates.
Other events included group song, extempore speech, debate, art under the theme “A World Reimagined,” short story writing on “On the night you decide God has forgotten you, a stranger knocks on your door,” and essay writing on “A Breeding Ground for Innovation or a Creativity Trap?” Results for the latter will be announced on Day Two.
The day concluded with a prayer led by prayer secretary of EU, Baithung.
The festival continues on February 27 with competitions in poetry slam, group dance, mad ads, group song finale, fashion designing and calligraphy, culminating in the closing ceremony.
The event is supported by Flora Events, Spicy Corner and Juseu, whose contributions have been instrumental in its successful organisation.
