The two day “2nd edition of Nagaland photography festival” organized by the Photography Club Dimapur (PCD), which was held on the theme ‘Power of image’, at Mandeville Garden, Purana Bazaar, concluded on Saturday.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, Media Coordinator and festival committee Keyi Putlang said that the main objective of the festival was to bring enthusiast photographers and photography clubs from other countries and across the nations under one community umbrella.
He added that, during the two-day event representatives from big companies like Canon, Nikon and Lumix conducted several photography workshop sessions to interested individuals.
Keyi Putlang also mentioned that besides Photography, the PCD this year were focused on promoting local entrepreneur and their locally made products, he added that 40 stalls have been set up for different business backgrounds including leather crafting, customized jewellery, food & beverages, apparels, mini games, kids playground and gadgets.
Speaking on the funding process, he said that local entrepreneurs from different backgrounds were sponsoring the event, which he believed that if PCD approaches the government for any upcoming events, they would be ready to lend assistance inorder to organize bigger festivals and attract wider community.
He also mentioned that comparatively, this year’s festival witnessed more crowd turn up as the organisers provided equal privileges and opportunities to all local artist and entrepreneur, which also included upgraded technical and visual items.
Alcohol free event this year was another successful initiative to attract more people, Keyi added. Since it allows everyone from the community to witness such spectacular event without age bar restrictions.
Further, he mentioned that there were many young untapped talents in the state and therefore encouraged them particularly youngsters to come out from the comfort zone and participate in such kind of events to boost their confidence and take talents to greater heights.
The last day event witnessed cosplay competition and music performance from local artist including Hope academy band, Papersky, Timeless, Meribeni Patton, Lenen Jamir, MokoKoza, MJ Jamir, Keneisenuo and many more.
