
DIMAPUR: Kohima Police apprehended three individuals in separate operations on June 22 in connection with underground factions and extortion activities.
Acting on reliable information, police launched an operation at Razhü Point under North Police Station jurisdiction and arrested one person allegedly linked to a self styled underground faction. The accused, identified as Cizoto Veswuh (47), stated to be an SS Captain of NNC/FGN (Thinoselie Group), was found in possession of an information slip issued by a ‘deputy chaplee’ of FGN and one FGN receipt.
A case has been registered at North PS under Section 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 7 of the Nagaland Security Regulation, 1962.
In another case, Kohima Police registered a suo motu case at South Police Station following reports of extortion demands made to shops and business establishments. Preliminary enquiry revealed that several business owners had received such demands but were reluctant to lodge complaints.
During investigation, two individuals were apprehended: Viketouzo (46), reportedly serving as ‘SS Kilonser’, CAO Angami Region of NSCN/GPRN K (Michael), and John Magh (39), reportedly serving as ‘SS Brigadier’ of NSCN/GPRN K (Michael). They were arrested in connection with South PS Case No. 0030/2026 registered under Sections 308(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police said further investigation is underway to establish the extent of extortion activities and identify other persons involved.
