
Minister for Higher & Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along on Saturday informed that the state government would be setting up three border out-posts along the Nagaland-Assam border area
He maintained that the out-posts were being setup to secure the border area and that the neighbouring state should not take it in a negative way.
Along said this while speaking as the special guest at a cultural exchange programme “Tradition Echoing Peace” coinciding with Tsungremmung festival on August 3 at the Nagaland-Assam border belt of Saring village under Longchem EAC Hq, Mokokchung.
The minister called upon Saring and Nokpu villages including the EAC and Border Magistrate of Longchem to usher in mutual co-existence among people living along the border and to break down the differences and build bridges with the neighbours.
“We should be human first and build peaceful co-existence and settle the differences between both sides through dialogue; our side has taken the first, therefore it is the turn of our counterpart to initiate such programme,” he said.
The minister asserted that if the two communities live peacefully, there would not be any issue and suggested that such an exchange programme should be held in turn wise between the two states. Along said that Nagaland’s immediate neighbour is Assam and this cannot be erased till the end of time. He also expressed solace to those affected by the recent flood in Assam and said that Nagaland will contribute cash, kind or whatever they can for their neighbour.

Earlier, a charity drive for Assam flood victims was organized at the event.
The programme was organized by Longchem EAC Hq office and attended by stakeholders of both Assam and Nagaland. Other highlights of the programme were dances and songs from both the sides followed by a grand feast. The cultural exchange programme was held with the aim to foster the relationship and create peaceful co-existence between the communities living along Assam-Nagaland border belt area.
