“Art Street Corner”, a vibrant haven for artists and art enthusiasts alike began on Thursday to captivate the streets of Duncan Basti, Dimapur adjacent to Flamingo Inc, from August 31 to September 2, between 10 am to 6 pm. Organized by Wandering Minds, the event promises a celebration of creativity, culture and the spirit of artistic expression.

Administrator of Wandering Minds, Lanu Longkumer, is at the forefront of this artistic endeavor, reflecting the institute’s commitment to fostering artistic practices among students and the community. The event, hosting a diverse array of activities, including exhibitions, face painting, calligraphy works, craft displays, live painting sessions and captivating clay art demonstrations, provides a unique platform for both budding and established artists to showcase their talents.

The event also features collaborations with IYAN Studio, Mixpick Enterprise, and Providence Institute, underscoring the shared vision of nurturing artistic growth.

The event is a mission to promote the significance of art and self-expression. Lanu Longkumer shared insights into the motivation behind Art Street Corner, highlighting that it serves as a focal point for artists in Nagaland to gather, connect, and share their creations. Longkumer said, “We are trying to create a Hotspot, Art Street Corner, for the artists in Nagaland. Our aim is to hold such fairs at regular intervals so that artists will get more exposure.”

The event also sheds light on the importance of encouraging students to establish their own artistic brands and ventures. The inclusion of Yugen Studios, IYAN Studios, and Togi Studios, all affiliated with Wandering Minds. This philosophy not only nurtures the entrepreneurial spirit among students but also contributes to the vibrant arts and culture scene in Nagaland.

The fair seeks to engage visitors in meaningful interactions with the artists, emphasizing the importance of boosting their confidence and motivation. By breaking away from the confines of virtual platforms and bringing art to the streets, the event bridges the gap between creators and their audience, enriching the experience for both.

The eclectic collection of artworks, influenced by Japanese and Korean cultures while rooted in Nagaland’s traditions, reflects the diversity of artistic expression on display. The event encourages artists to venture beyond their comfort zones and explore new avenues of creativity, moving beyond the boundaries of social media artistry. The positive response from passersby and attendees attests to the impact “Art Street Corner” has already made.
