3-day ICETNMST-2017 gets underway at NIT Nagaland

The three-day International Conference on Emerging Trends in Nanomaterials Science and Technology (ICETNMST-2017) organised by the Department of Science and Humanities, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland, got underway on Wednesday at its campus here in Chumukedima.
Scientists, scholars, and experts along with delegates and invitees from across the world and country are taking part in the conference that will culminate on January 6.
On the first day, Prof. Meyya Meyyappan from NASA Amnes Research Center Moffett Field ,CA delivered the keynote address for the inaugural function.
In his presentation on ‘Nanotechnology: Development of Practical Systems and Nano-Micro-Macro Integration’ that focussed on ‘product and system development using Nanomaterials and nanotechnology’, Prof. Meyya said there were strong nanotechnology research programs across the world with every conceivable application in all economic sectors and that the development of practical systems and commercial products were the next big challenge at present.
Prof. Vijaya Srinivasu Vallabhapurapu from University of South Africa and Prof. S.M. Shivaprasad of JNCASR Bangalore presented their papers during plenary talk I and II respectively.
Several research papers and findings were also presented during different sessions on the first day.
It may be noted that the conference is an initiative of NIT Nagaland to bring to the front the recent development in the field of Nanomaterials as well as to create a platform for international scientific collaborations.
