Dimapur police on Sunday nabbed two highway robbers and another person for alleged rape attempt in separate incidents. Basing on a complaint, Police arrested two persons identified as Kevichulie (27) and Jatho Angami (21) after they intercepted a Manipur truck (MN-01-7286) at Jharnapani and allegedly demanded money from the driver. Police said that the duo forcefully took away the mobile handset belonging to driver after they failed to find any cash. Meanwhile, in another incident Diphupar police on Saturday night apprehended one Kamal Hussain (26) for allegedly attempting to rape a nine year old girl. According to police, the accused, a carpenter by profession tried to commit the crime while the minor was engaged in domestic work at her house compound. Police sources said the accused forcefully took the minor inside the house by gagging her mouth with his hand. The accused fled from the scene when the girl raised a cry. He was later on arrested at 4th mile while waiting for an auto to return home.
