3 NPGs declare ‘joint political venture’

In a new development, three Naga Political Groups (NPGs)– NSCN/GPRN (Akato), Z Royim-led NNC (Parent Body), and Khango-led NSCN (K)– decided to have a “joint political venture” and engage in political talks with Government of India.


The announcement was made after at a high-level meeting of the leaders of the three groups held at the residence of Akato Chophi president of NSCN/GPRN (Akato), at Hoito village, under Niuland district on December 30. Addressing the media after the meeting, Akato said that his group and Khango-led NSCN (K) had mutually entered into an agreement and later Khango and Z Royim faction had signed another agreement.


Accordingly, the three groups on Saturday decided to have a joint political venture and begin collaborative efforts from 2024, focusing on mutual support and shared objectives and engage with the Central government. Akato informed that the three groups would continue using their individual nomenclatures preserving its distinct identity, with no overarching umbrella term for the collective alliance.
Akato also informed that the three NPGs would have joint military exercise to thwart any external threat.


Akato reiterated that the main objective of the groups coming together was to collectively participate in political talks with Delhi, presenting a consolidated front. He was optimistic that the Central government would respond to the alliance in a positive manner and noted that preparations for political talks with Delhi have been set in motion.


Akato further said that alliance was open to like-minded groups interested in joining the collaborative effort.
The meeting was also attended by ato kilonser Hokato Vusshe and finance kilonser Shellen Konyak of NSCN K (Khango), general secretary Nupavi and vice president SS Pongkhu of Z Royim-led NNC (PB) and NSCN/GPRN (Akato) president Akato Chophi and general secretary Michael Yeptho and others.
