3 schools in Zunheboto launch ‘No Tobacco Club’

A “District No Tobacco Club” under the motto, “Rejuvenation” was launched on May 27 at Cornerstone Higher Secondary School, Immanuel Higher Secondary School and Olympic Higher Secondary School under Zunheboto district.
A press release by District No Tobacco Club, media cell informed that the main motive of the club was to create awareness about the harmful impact of tobacco and to encourage and stop people from consuming addictive and harmful tobacco products.
Speaking at the programme as special guest, Dr Esther Chopy Ngullie highlighted the importance and advantages of not consuming tobacco substances. She appreciated the students for setting up such club in the district, one among the first clubs in the entire state.
Citing examples of the tobacco patients, Dr. Esther detailed the harmful effects of consuming tobacco and how it could cause deadly diseases.
She encouraged the club to organise awareness programmes in the district to sensitise people on the harmful impact of tobacco.
While speaking at the event, associate pastor, Vito Achumi appreciated the students for taking up such good initiatives.
He said the churches were also trying to create awareness on tobacco and suggested collaborating with the clubs to reach out to more people.
During the programme, a special song was presented by Naga Kheks.
