38 A/C thanksgiving service held in Wokha

NPF MLA from 38 A/C, Dr. Chumben Murry, who emerged victorious with a huge margin in the just concluded NLA elections, celebrated his victory with supporters and party workers by organising a thanksgiving service here at Wokha Village Ground Tuesday.
Dr. Chumben in his address thanked God, his supporters, NPF party workers of 38 A/C and also acknowledged his opponents. He remarked that 2018 elections was different from past elections as he had to fight against “power and money”, attributing his victory to God and supporters.
The MLA described the present NLA tenure as “crucial”, saying it was tough to be a leader in such circumstances, especially in view of the Naga political solution which is expected in the near future. He therefore appealed the remaining Naga political groups that had not joined the ongoing negotiations to join and work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the Nagas.
Dr. Chumben also acknowledged the Clean Election Campaign (CEC) of NBCC, observing that the campaign was effective in minimizing the use of money and alcohol to a large extent. In this regard, he appealed the NBCC to formulate a roadmap for clean elections based on the CEC.
In his assessment of the NLA elections result, Dr. Chumben stated that the people’s mandate was with the NPF and hinted towards the possibility of his party forming the government in the present NLA in future.
Dr. Chumben further encouraged his supporters not to be disheartened by the opposition tag as he asserted to go ahead with his development plans despite being in opposition. Towards that end, the MLA informed that he would initiate cleanliness drive in 38 A/C without waiting for government funds.
Among other things, Dr. Chumben said he would allocate 33% of local area development fund to women and would explore avenues to generate employment for the youth. A special dedicatory prayer was also administered to the MLA and his wife by sr. pastor WVBC, O. Thungben Kikon.
