DIMAPUR, JUL 5 (NPN): Nagaland took a significant step towards adopting digital dentistry with a workshop on the fabrication of monolithic complete dentures using Polyjet 3D printing technology at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on Saturday, highlighting faster, more precise and patient-friendly denture production, a DIPR report stated.
Speaking at the workshop, commissioner & secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Anoop Khinchi, said healthcare was being redefined by technology, with dentistry witnessing rapid transformation through digital tools such as digital impressions, CAD-CAM and 3D printing. He said these technologies were improving precision, speed and patient comfort, adding that the government viewed digital dentistry as an important step towards making healthcare more accessible and efficient in Nagaland and the region.
Highlighting the benefits of monolithic complete dentures produced through Polyjet 3D printing, Khinchi said the technology enabled the production of strong, biocompatible and accurately adapted dentures in a fraction of the time, directly benefiting patient care.
He described such workshops as essential in bridging the gap between theory and practice and encouraged participants to make full use of the hands-on sessions and enhance their skills. Reaffirming the government’s commitment to continuing education and skill development, Khinchi stressed the need for collaboration among hospitals, academic institutions, industry partners and government agencies to accelerate innovation and ensure new technologies reached patients effectively.
He also acknowledged the Technology Advisor, Industry 4.0 Innovation Centre, for providing technical support and a 3D printer to NHAK, and urged stakeholders to adopt evidence-based digital workflows so that the benefits of digital dentistry extend to district hospitals, dental colleges and community clinics.
