The office of the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), Mangkolemba, organized the “3rd Mega Oil Palm Plantation Drive 2025–26” at Longtho village on Thursday, marking a significant step toward promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
In a press release issued by SDAO Mangkolemba office informed that special guest Moakumzuk Tzudir urged farmers to harness the economic opportunities presented by oil palm cultivation and to uphold the industrious spirit of their ancestors in building a sustainable future.
Speaking on the “Scope & Importance of Oil Palm,” Deputy Manager (State Head), Nagaland, Mahesh Kumar Pathak, highlighted its widespread use in food products and its role in improving rural livelihoods. He advised farmers to select land with a slope not exceeding 20% and follow the triangular planting method to optimize yields.
In his keynote address, the SDAO emphasized the department’s long-term commitment to assisting farmers in every phase of the plantation process.
The programme was graced by ADC Mangkolemba, Moakumzuk Tzudir, who encouraged farmers to adopt oil palm cultivation and assured full departmental support from land preparation to harvest.
Village headman Limatoshi, GB Longtho, welcomed participants and expressed gratitude to the Agriculture Department for prioritizing farmer welfare. He reaffirmed the community’s dedication to contributing sincerely to the success of the initiative.
The event concluded with the distribution of 1,800 oil palm saplings to beneficiaries. Chaired by Chaso Ao (AO), the programme ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Nungsangtemjen (AO). A total of 30 farmers attended the plantation drive.
