The 3rd Nagaland State Futsal Championship organized by Nagaland Football Association (NFA) will commence from October 17 to 20, at JJ arena Chumoukedima. The event is being hosted by Chumoukedima District Football Association (CDFA).
This was announced in a press conference held Monday, at King Chilly Restaurant, Green Park junction. The inaugural ceremony will be graced by Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio as the special guest. The inaugural ceremony will commence from 4 pm onwards. The winner of the the tournament will walk home with a cash amount of Rs. 1 lakh while the runners-up will receive Rs. 50,000/-.
CDFA vice president, Imli Sunep briefed about the history of the association stating that CDFA is an infant association under NFA, which was formed in the year 2022, April and under the abled guidance of NFA. “CDFA has taken part in major tournaments which were played last year as well as this year”, he informed. The association also extended its happiness and gratitude for giving the association the privileged to host the Futsal Championship.
NFA senior vice president Kiyeka S Sumi said the state futsal championship is important because of two factors: the way the game has been introduced suit their physicality, as Naga boys are fast and the other is, ever since the National Futsal Championship is being held, the club from the state have been participating.
The championship is not only the 3rd edition of the state but also the 3rd edition of National Futsal Championship which is scheduled to be held soon, he informed.
Basically, it will be a qualifying ticket to the National Championship. Sumi also encouraged the young footballers saying it is easier to get into the Indian futsal team then the Indian football team. He also mentioned that NFA was also tying up with the district football organization and association. Altogether, 14 clubs will be participating in the championship which will be divided into four groups.
