As Day 2 of the 3rd Northeast Games concluded, host Nagaland surged ahead with a total of 39 medals (18 Gold, 8 Silver and 13 Bronze), after securing an early lead in the medal tally on the first day of the 3rd North East Games 2024. Nagaland is currently at the top of the medal tally.
Close on the heels on Nagaland, Manipur has secured a total of 34 medals, with 12 Gold, 9 Silver, and 13 Bronze medals, while Assam has 35 medals in total, including 11 Gold, 16 Silver, and 8 Bronze medals.
As the competition intensifies, spectators now anticipate whether Manipur will surpass Nagaland or will Assam emerge as a surprise leader. The 3rd North East Games 2024 promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and sportsmanship, with each state vying for victory. The 3rd North East Games 2024 commenced on March 19th, 2024, showcasing a myriad of sports disciplines; including football, volleyball, archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, pencak silat, sepak takraw, table tennis, wushu, and lawn tennis. Day 2 witnessed athletes compete in archery, athletics, basketball, boxing footall, lawn tennis, Pencak Silat, Sepak takraw, volleyball, and wushu.
Nagaland Wushu team wins 8 medals in Northeast Games

Nagaland Wushu team ended the Wushu competition of the 3rd North East Games 2024 with eight medals (one gold, three silver and four bronze) with Yoto Chizo winning the only gold in the 75 kg event for Nagaland. The Wushu team have bettered the medal tally of the second edition where the team had won six bronze medals. They have performed much better in the 3rd edition along with the advantage of home crowd at Chumoukedima district.
The two-day wushu competition was held as part of the NE Games 2024 at Sovima Futsal ground with a total of 58 players from different state of Northeast. Vipu Zhimomi, Nupa Kiho and Kekhrieneitso Angami had to settle for a silver medal losing the final round, but Yoto Chizo defeated Sanjenbam Rohit Meitei from Manipur state in the final match giving much cheer and celebration as both Nupa Kiho and Kekhrieneitso Angami lost against counterpart Manipur team in their finals.
Akivito Yeptho, Geeta Narjinary, Kivikali Magh and Lipokjongshi Imchen had to settle for a bronze medal. Manipur with an impressive performance secured 6 gold, 2 silver and two bronze totalling 10 medals at top the table, while Assam is in second with two gold, three silver and two bronze, and Nagaland in 3rd position with 8 medals of the Wushu competition held as part of the North East Games 2024.
