3rd quarterly Lok Adalat settles 576 cases

Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority conducted the third quarterly national lok adalat in all the 11district headquarters, which were organized by respective district legal services on September 11.

In a press release, NSLSA PRA, Ketholeno Neihu informed that a total of 576 out of 1113 cases were taken up and settlement money involved amounted to Rs. 4,86,00,875.

NSLSA informed that the combined figure for cases taken up and tried before the jurisdiction of the lok adalat climbed to 1113 cases and after pervasive efforts put up by presiding officers and conciliators, Lok Adalat forum settled a total of 576 disposed cases.

Most of the cases were dealt on Bank recovery and MACT cases, PRA informed.

It may be mentioned that the Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms, and a forum where cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled or compromised speedily and amicably.
