3rd winter night carnival begins in Mokokchung

The third winter night carnival in Mokokchung organized by the Adventure and Motorsport Association Mokokchung (AMAM) began on December 14 at the Mokokchung Town Police point. The winter night carnival will take place from December 14 – 17 and will begin at 6 p.m.
The inaugural programme was graced by president of Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, Imnaonen Pongen, as the special guest.
While appreciating AMA for their initiative in organising the carnival, Imnaonen Pongen said that Mokokchung town, along with the rest of the country and the world suffered during the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the town is barely recovering. “Those two years of extraordinary times tested us to the brim, but yet by the grace of the Almighty God and our resilience and cooperation with the authorities and among the citizens, we could overcome the pandemic. It is with sadness that I remember those past years, but still, live goes on,” he said
He hoped that the few days of festivity will once again infuse the feeling of brotherhood among the citizens and the carnival would be the stepping stone to rise up from the ashes of the pandemic and rebuild the town. He suggested AMAM to continue with their noble works and organize such carnivals during other holidays like Moatsu, Tsungremmong and other events. He also suggested the MMC to identify the enterprising youths and encourage them by giving licenses and explore ways and means to open their own stalls in and around the town throughout the year so that it can lessen unemployment problem in the society and would ultimately lead to a self- reliant and prospering society.
President, AMAM, Moasashi Jamir, in his welcome address informed that the main objective of organizing the carnival was to let people of Mokokchung come out of their cozy beds and warm fireplaces and enjoy the myriad of food, games and all other things that the carnival has to offer and to make the air of festivity merrier where families and friends can come and have a gala time.
