A four-day training programme under the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan, a flagship mission for tribal development, commenced at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kohima on September 1. The initiative is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and the Department of Tribal Affairs, Nagaland.
According to a DIPR report, the training brings together officials from 12 districts, aiming to build a cadre of grassroots leaders committed to inclusive governance and community empowerment. Advisor for Tribal Affairs and Election, H. Tovihoto Ayemi, who graced the occasion as chief guest, described the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan as a mission of selfless workers envisioned to drive transformative change at the local level.
Launched nationally in July 2025 by the Prime Minister of India, the Abhiyan seeks to nurture leadership among tribal communities and strengthen governance across one lakh villages and 550 districts in 30 states and union territories. Ayemi emphasized that the initiative aligns with the national goal of achieving a developed India, Viksit Bharat by 2047, through service, resolve, and dedication.
Addressing the gathering, secretary of Tribal Affairs, Angelina Tajen, highlighted the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), another central initiative launched on October 2, 2024. She noted that in Nagaland, 15 departments are working in convergence to implement DAJGUA across 608 villages, with each department contributing targeted interventions.
Tajen expressed hope that the 79 trainees participating in the current program would return to their respective districts equipped to implement the learnings effectively. The training is being facilitated by a team comprising Strategic Management Team (SMT) members, two super coaches, four representatives from the Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation (BRLF), and 69 District Management Team (DMT) members from six key departments.
