4 held on charge of vehicle theft

Dimapur police on three separate occasions in and around Dimapur apprehended four persons on charge of vehicle theft and recovered two vehicles.
In a press note, Addl. Dy Commissioner of Police/PRO said, on January 24, one person identified as Jalaluddin of Thoubal District, Manipur was arrested while trying to steal a motorcycle. He was found in possession of 28 sets of different motorcycle keys and suspected to be a professional vehicle lifter, PRO said. In the second incident on January 23, Dimapur police recovered Toyota Etios bearing Assam Registration and arrested its owner Monaranjan Kalita along with two others identified as Karan Das Menal Das and Netash Majumdar. According to PRO, they are all residents of Dibrugarh, Assam and were arrested while trying to discreetly dispose the vehicle. The vehicle which was brought under Bank Finance with first party Insurance was meant to be sold off illegally by the owner in connivance with the other two arrested person, PRO said.  They were also planning to file a false lost report with the police. In another incident, on January 21, police recovered a Toyota innova, which was allegedly hijacked from Assam on January 17, PRO said. The vehicle was found plying within town area and fled on being chased by police. Later, the vehicle was found abandoned in the nearby vicinity, PRO said. The same has been handed over to the Dibrugarh Police and case has been registered.
