Affected land owners association under Kohima district for construction of 4-laning of Dimapur-Kohima highway has appealed the state government to release the compensation to the affected land owners by March 31.
In a press release, the association secretary Dietholie warned that failure on the government to reciprocate the “extended good will” by the owners would enhance the land/building rates.
The association said it was their right to demand since the land/building were earmarked for acquisition by the authorities only late 2015 and therefore cannot be clubbed as per 2011-14 rates. They said that they have no reservation in giving away their prized ancestral land /building for the cause of bringing development either by state government or any agency provided the proposed project implemented in-toto.
However, the association claimed that the manner in which the project was handled by the state government from day one till today (12 years had lapsed) was “sordid” and has painted a “pitiable picture” of the inaptly and irresponsibility of the state government in implementation and execution of the project.
