Medziphema Village Council and Medziphema Town Mechü Krotho have decided to engage themselves in watering NH-29 (ongoing 4-lane road work) under Medziphema town on July 29, from 7 to 10 a.m to reduce dust pollution. In a joint statement, MVC chairman Nikhonyü Kuotsu, MTMK president Akhoto Kuotsu and general secretary Khrielie Iralu said despite repeated appeals made to ECI & NHIDCL to address the problem of dust pollution and complete the black-topping work, no action has been taken till date.
As a consequence of non-compliance to the grievances of the people, the signatories said the public have decided to engage themselves in watering the highway.
They informed that vehicular movements except emergency service would face restrictions during the said period.
They have also resolved to further intensify similar actions in the future if the responsible authority failed to respond including black-topping of the road without further delay.
