4-lane road work to begin after Oct 15

Nagaland chief minister, T.R. Zeliang on Thursday chaired a coordination meeting of the 4-lane road project (NH-29) with the departments of PWD (NH), Power, Police, chief secretary, DGP, GM NHIDCL and contractors. PWD (W&H) commissioner & secretary, I. Himato Zhimomi said during the meeting, the contractor had informed that the 4-lane works would begin after October 15, on commencement of the dry season. In this regard, PWD has requested the public to extend cooperation and to bear with the inconveniences that would result from the construction works. Meanwhile, the chief minister while reviewing various issues, directed Power department to immediately shift power utilities in the affected areas of the 4-lane. Zeliang had also asked the concerned departments to work out alternative stretches for inter and intra state traffic wherever possible. Though the work was to finish within three years time, Zeliang urged the contractors to try and complete the works before schedule. Himato said issues such as security arrangements, cooperation of the local communities, and work related matters were discussed during the meeting. It was also decided that regular meetings chaired by the CM would be held in order to closely monitor the 4-lane work.
