Nagaland JD (U) unit has urged the ECI Engineering and Construction Company Ltd, engaged in executing a portion of Dimapur-Kohima four-lane project, to fully comply with the laid down norms while executing allotted contract.
In a press release, JD(U) media secretary, Mhademo Shitiri, said the party supported Medziphema Town Youth Organisation, which had accused ECI Company of causing dust pollution in Medziphema area.
Expressing the view the NHAI allotted the contract work after having been examined the reputation and integrity of the company, the JD(U) said it was, therefore, now upon the company to uphold the commitment with integrity and comply with the terms and condition.
Stating that the company had obligation to address health issues caused due to dust pollution, JD(U) said ECI should therefore follow all national, state and local environmental laws. Further, expressing concern over the plight of the people, the party appealed to ECI to take up corporate social responsibility activities that would benefit the people of the affected areas.
