4 teachers receive Kohima dist Teachers’ Award 2023

Four teachers received the District Teachers’ Award 2023 at the district level teachers’ day celebration held at office of the district education office Kohima on Saturday. The selected teachers were: Kevilhousenuo Chiesotsu (Graduate Teacher) GMS Meriema, Khriemenuo Nagi (Graduate Teacher) GHSS Jotsoma, Mhasikholie Sachii (Graduate Teacher) TM GHSS, Kohima, Keneisenü Vitsu (Graduate Teacher) GMS K Khel, Viswema.


Gracing the event as special guest, Deputy Commissioner Shanavas C acknowledged the responsibilities and struggles faced by teachers.
On the other hand, he reminded the teachers on the need for patience to handle each individual student, a quality that was unparalleled in any other profession.


He also highlighted on the struggles faced by some teachers posted in different areas as they leave behind their families and friends and faced challenges to give their best to support the students.
Shanavas further reminded the teachers that education was beyond classroom teaching and highlighted the importance for teachers to continuously learn and stay updated in a fast-developing world.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Mhasikholie Sachii (Graduate Teacher) TM GHSS thanked the department for recognising their effort and commitment.


He said teaching was noble profession and challenging but a satisfying profession.
He said every teacher should have the goal to not only teach syllabus but also guide the students in their life skills to be good human being.


Sachii, who have been teaching for 17 years, said despite of all the challenges, it was satisfying to see good results. He also thanked the department for guiding them to help the students and supporting them throughout their journey.


National teachers awardee 2022 Mimi Yhoshü delivered word of encouragement. Earlier the program was blessed with invocation by Neisiesa Chüsi, welcome address by Emilo Patton and vote of thanks by Neivizolie Meyase.
