
A total of 40 trainees from the five sub divisions of Kohima district were trained on Community first responders on disaster management. The training programme was conducted by District Disaster Management Authority, Kohima in collaboration with the Civil Defence & Home Guards, Health and family welfare and Fire and emergency services from June 27-30.
Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, graced the concluding day as special guest. He congratulated the trainers, who will be venturing out to their respective villages and sub divisions to train people with their learnt knowledge and skills.
He expressed happiness on witnessing many youths taking up the initiative to become community first responders.
He informed them that the Training of Trainers (ToT) programme was just the beginning and that they should not end by this training. He also thanked the State Disaster Response Force(SDRF) for exhibiting their selfless and sacrificial services as and when required.
Further, DC gave away the certificates to the trainees.
In the group competition, Chiechama village under ADC Chiephobozou sub-division bagged the first position.
DDMO Kohima, Thejangulie Zao while delivering final remarks of the training elaborated on the way forward that the trainers will be engaged for further trainings of the sub divisions in the entire Kohima district. The training was supported by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority(NSDMA), Home Department, Government of Nagaland. The valedictory programme was chaired by Victor Yhome, DPA Kohima.
