
The 49th Chang Baptist Youth Endeavour (CBYE) convention under the theme “Knitted together in Christ” was held at Sipongsang village from December 13 to 15, wherein Rev. Achu Chang, executive secretary, CBLT, S. Mosa, former youth secretary, CBLT and Anamong youth secretary, CBLT spoke on the main theme and other topics.
A press release from CBLT youth secretary, Anamong Chang stated that, more than 1000 delegates comprising of associate youth pastors, church elders, students from 60 Chang churches participated in the event.
Devotion and Bible study were conducted by Rev L. Noksen women secretary, CBLT and Rev Chongshen Ngobe, pastor, CBL Saksi, Tuensang respectively.
Three focus group leaders, Jongma H Ungh, Limasangla and Rev. Achu Chang conducted sessions on live sound reinforcement, flower arrangement and exploring mission possibilities on the second day of the convention.
Rev. Vikuo Rhi, youth secretary, NBCC was also present at the last night of the convention and gave a short speech highlighting the number of associations and churches under NBCC, baptized members and youths. He also exhorted and encouraged the youths present in the convention to take part in the convention which will be held at NBCC convention hall in 2020.
Some of the well known Chang local bands such as Donen, Himjan Shanen, Lole Wet along with Chongma, Hopong & Senti, R. Moa and Limba also participated in the musical fest on the third day.
A 15 foot cross was constructed and erected on a hilltop at 7000 ft above sea level and about 2 kms from the convention hall. Villagers, campers and speakers climbed to the top to hold a prayer programme.
Explaining the significance of the Cross Anamong, youth secretary said that CBYE convention began here in 1971 and coincidentally happened to culminate at Sipongsang and under the guidance of the Cross, all the delegates prayed for blessings upon Sipongsang.
The opening of the convention and flag down ceremony was led by the Haühyang Choba Bagpipe Band, Tuensang.
