The 4th edition of the Brillante Piano Festival Nagaland is set to return in the state’s capital from September 29 to October 1, which will be held at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima.
Addressing a press conference at the Heritage, Raj Bhavan Kohima, on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, expressed his support for the festival and stated that the district administration had planned to collaborate with the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” initiative during the event. He expressed his hope of Naga musicians reaching the top and competing even in the international level.
Brillante Director Kyhochano TCK mentioned that various renowned artists like Scottish pianist, musicologist, and director who teaches at KM Music Conservatory in India, Dr Adam J. Greig, Paddy Trio an Afro-Cuban jazz group led by Pradyumna Manot, a Latin jazz pianist, composer, and music educator, Specially Abled Musician (SAM) Ritam Changkakoti a musical prodigy from Guwahati, Assam and many more would also be performing at the event.
Specially Abled Musician (SAM) programme will highlight the talent and courage of musicians with disabilities. A Program of Brillante with initiation to celebrate the efforts and spirit of the special needs musician and by doing so, the festival aims to sensitize the larger. The festival was started in 2017 at Kohima to uplift the local community and has now become a pan-India movement.
The main program of the festival will take place in the evening. Along with featured guest artists, several talented artists from Nagaland will also be performing during the event.
The director said the festival will also have multi genre piano competition in India (Western Classical & Jazz) in various categories. Various workshops, masterclasses, exhibitions and experiential space will also be provided.
The organisers have made special entry fee package for schools, school students and special abled persons.
Yamaha Music India, Furtados Music India, Musee Musical Foundation, Kohima Music Conservatory, TAFMA, Global Music Institute, Nagaland Piano Teachers Association, Smart City Kohima, Music Academy Kohima, Sound Check NE and Indian Delphic Council are partnered with the festival this season.
